Head Coach of Karela FC, Johnson Smith has said he will not be considering a return his former club Asante Kotoko anytime soon but wants to stay at the Nzema based GPL side till the end of the 2017/2018 season.

“It is impossible to consider Kotoko coaching job at this time because my main target is to win the Premier League title with Karela this year…. But I could consider at season end when all football activities are brought to a close”

“There is a new Coach at Kotoko now I think he should be given the needed attention and support to manage the affairs and current challenges the team seems to be going through now’ he spoke to Osafo Addo on SilverFMs midday sports ‘SportsCenter’

Karela FC have returned to winning ways and are having good times in their debut season of the Ghana Premier League after a poor start which made a section of the supporters call for dismissal of the former Kotoko trainer.

The Nzema based club have exhibited resilience in their matches by handing GPL giants Hearts of Oak and Kotoko a 3-1 defeat each at home, earning Coach Johnson a nomination in the NASCO Coach of the month award.

“I have been working hard as a Coach but because I had a lot of my time in bringing Karela FC from the second-tier to the Premier League, my works have not been recognized…so I was not surprised when my name appeared on the Award list”

Smith, a former assistant coach at Asante Kotoko who had exploits with Berekum Arsenals, Gold Stars and Eleven Wise, won the race to replace Frimpong Manso at Karela FC.

Karela FC lost to Liberty professionals by 1-0 in Accra on matchday 12 of the Ghana Premier League and would be welcoming Champions, Aduana Stars to the Enyinase Cam Park in their next encounter.
