Ghanaian International Emmanuel Boateng blasted a historic hat trick against Spanish giants Barcelona on Sunday evening to aid Levante to steal a 5-4 win.
The pacy attacker inked his named into the history books of European football by becoming the first player to score a hatrick against FC Barcelona in thirteen years in league football.
Boateng ended Barcelona's unbeaten run this season in the La Liga with a hat-trick in the 9 goal thriller of the penultimate game of the campaign.
Boateng shot the host into the lead with an early strike in the 9th minute before adding another on the half hour mark.
The Ghanaian however capped his night by scoring his third in the 49th minute before Ernis Bardhi added another.
Phillipe Coutinho also netted hatrick for the visitors before Suarez converted a penalty but could not survive Enis Bardhi’s goals in the 46th and 56th minutes, ending the game 5-4 in favour of Levante.
The Catalan based side hadn’t conceded three goals from same player in one game since Diego Forlan scored a perfect hatrick against them in 2005 while playing for Athletico Madrid.
The 21 year old former Ghana U-20 forward has recorded several feats including scoring against both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Boateng has scored six goals in 24 appearances for Levante this season as a winger and his performances have drawn the attention of Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.
The former Moreirense forward joins David Barral and Rigano as the only Levante players to have ever scored a hat-trick in the top division.
The feat of the Ghanaian has earned him a maiden call-up to Ghana’s senior national team ahead of the Black Stars friendlies with Japan and Iceland.
