National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Ashanti Regional Organizer aspirant, Nana Asare Bediako popularly known as 'Obama' has stepped down from the Regional Organizer race of the party.
Nana Bediako announced his withdrawal from the race this afternoon on SilverFM.
His decision as he explained on SilverFM's GhanaMONTIE with Nana Kwabena Ampratwum is motivated by concerns of the party and to take up more challenging duties for the party ahead of 2020 polls.
Obama affirmed that he is withdrawing from the contest to give way and to support the other members of the party to also take up the challenge.
The position of Regional Organizer seems to have generated a lot of interest with as many as six candidates filing their nominations to grab it.
The Candidates include Isham Alhassan, Abass Mubarrack Abass, Godwin Bobobee, Asiedu Keteke, Justice Haroun-Alfa and Nana Asare Bediako.
58 persons aspiring for various executive positions in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, have successfully filed their nominations so far.
A total of 70 aspirants picked forms when nominations were opened between July 16 and 18 but 12 out of the number failed to submit their forms by 1700 hours on Tuesday, July 24, deadline for submission of forms.
Four people are vying for the chairmanship position which promises to be a close contest as all four are known party stalwarts in the Ashanti Region.
They are Joseph Yamin, a former Deputy Regional Minister, Kwadwo Adu Gyamfi, Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi and T. K. Braimah.
