The management of the two GPL giants Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak seem to settle on the dates for the possible two legged tie between the glamorous clubs to keep their players in shape whiles football activities in the country are halted.
The two perennial rivals formed a four-member joint committee to deliberate and agree in principle to engage themselves in the friendly encounter.
The two clubs have been in talks for the past few days to organize the super-2 friendly game following the halt of the local league.
A member of the committee Nana Kwame has revealed the date coupled with the venues for the two-legged friendly clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
The mammoth double header slated for the Baba Yara stadium will have the first leg scheduled for August 26, 2018 and a return leg on 02 September, 2018 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“The committees sat yesterday and have agreed in principle to put forward some changes due to concerns that Aduana Stars would be playing against ASEC Mimosas in the CAF Confederation on the earlier proposed 19 August date”
“We have proposed 26th August and 2nd September 2018 if everything goes as planned, as the dates that the two clubs would play their friendly matches in Kumasi, Baba Yara Sports Stadium” he revealed in an interview with Edmund Osafo Addo on SilverFM’s SilverSports.
He continued that one of the concerns that led to setting September 02, 2018 return leg was that the porcupine warriors would also be celebrating the club’s birthday on 31st August so ‘we had to push the second match to 2 days afterwards to commemorate Kotoko’s birthday’
The Committee Member also stressed that the double header are slated for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium due to the ongoing maintenance works at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
Nana Kwame revealed that the committee is still in talks with some sponsors for the super-2 clash and the group would announce the sponsors on board in few days.
