A brace from Burkinabe attacker Songne Yacouba ensured that the porcupine warriors inflict a 2-0 defeat on 10-man bitterest-rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday in the first leg of Super 2 Clash tie.

A 38th minute strike from the striker and another in the 69th minute was all that Asante Kotoko needed to hand perennial rivals Hearts of Oak a painful defeat in the Super 2 Clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Yacouba was there in time to pounce in on a rebound to open scoring when Ernest Sowah failed to parry away a shot from Prince Acquah.

The two sides returned from the break poised for more action as the fans were yearning for more but the phobians had to rely on a 10 man squad after defender Robert Addo was shown the exit for a second yellow card after he landed a cynical tackle on his marker.

Yacouba doubled Kotoko's lead with a beautiful goal after connecting an assist by experienced Jordan Opoku in a swift counter attack.

The Burkinabe could have grabbed a hat trick in a historic style but for a block by substitute goalkeeper Ben Mensah who was in the right position .

Hearts were the home team on Sunday and were dispatched.

The second leg of the double tie is slated for next Sunday September 02, 2018 at the same venue.
