The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Registered Nurses’ and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA), Accra formerly Ghana Registered Nurses’ Association (GRNA) has cautioned the Director General of the Association to make sure there is an introduction of the 'admission quota system' for this year

According to Mr Douglas Adu Fokuo , politicians do not allow the regulatory body of the GRNMA operate due to "protocol list from above powers" which compels the heads of schools or Principals to make more admissions above the required number of enrollments.

"They always interfer in the council's operations due to what is called Nepotism because of powers from above"

"Some health schools are even under-furbished with teaching equipment and computers but enrollments of over 1000 students can be made to a school with of about 100 computers"

Speaking on OmanbapaShow with Oheneba Nana Asiedu , the PRO reiterated that politicians are the main cause of proliferation of Health Schools in the country leading more students coming out without quality expertise.

"Yes I admit that we have enough productivity due to the large number of students we produce every year but we should ask ourselves, does it reflect the hospital setting in terms of quality Health Workers"

"Production comes with quality .Where is the quality?"he asked.

The Health professional added that some schools do not even have practical rooms and they seldom go on educational visits, clinical etc.

He reiterated the GRNMA's decisions on the introduction of the quota system without any government officials' interference

"There should be no politician and I repeat no politician after this quota system is given to public institutions"

"They do not do this to other Associations" he said.
