Despite missing out on 2018 World Cup, the senior national team, Black Stars made gains in December’s edition of the FIFA Ranking to end the year in the 50th position.

West African Neighbours Nigeria dropped a place down to occupy the 51st position ending the year behind Ghana, Senegal ,Tunisia,Egypt , DR Congo, Morocco, Burkina Faso and Cameroon.
Senegal still remains the top ranked African side in the World having kept their 23rd position.
Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Burkina Faso and Cameroon maintained their previous positions.
Ghana are still ranked eighth on the continent.
Meanwhile, there are no change at the top as Germany crowned Team of the Year.
The world champions, who qualified to defend their crown in Russia by winning all ten of their qualifiers and have been unbeaten in 15 matches in 2017, succeed Argentina and Belgium, who were ‘Team of the Year’ in 2016 and 2015 respectively.
Germany held on to top spot in a largely unchanged Ranking that reflects the fact that just 41 ‘A’ internationals have been played since the previous edition, and that few of those involved teams at the top end of the table.
